Biographical Sketch:
Jennifer Barton, MD, is an academic rheumatologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCSF. Her research focus is on health communication and rheumatic diseases. Dr. Barton has received a career development award from the American College of Rheumatology as well as a Hellman Family Early Career Award to study patient-physician discordance around assessment of disease severity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). She was also a co-investigator on an ACR grant to examine disparities in utilization and outcomes in rheumatoid arthritis, and later a co-investigator on a grant funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to develop a low literacy medication summary guide and decision aid tool for vulnerable populations with RA. She works as a clinical rheumatologist serving vulnerable populations at San Francisco General Hospital.
