Biographical Sketch:
Dr. van Tol-Geerdink's research is focused on patient involvement in medical decision making in Oncology. It involves studies on the development and implementation of patient decision aids. Particular attention is given to the consequences of patient involvement in cancer treatment decisions. Another of her research interest is the assessment of quality of life outcomes. She was trained as a Medical Biologist at the Univ. Groningen in the Netherlands. After her PhD at the Free University in Amsterdam, she worked as a researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA for five years. Since 2001, she works at the department of Radiation Oncology at the Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, where she is involved in several multidisciplinary studies on patient involvement in treatment decisions, mainly in the field of uro-oncology.
