Biographical Sketch:
Mikki Brewster began her career as a nurse. She has taken on a variety of professional challenges in multiple fields since that time, but her professional roots seem to be in the practice of ensuring the health and well-being of individuals. It was through her experiences as a nurse that Mikki developed an interest in social work. After 12 years in nursing, she resumed her education, graduating from Webster University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Throughout her career, Mikki has served the citizens of St. Louis through a wide variety of positions with the St. Louis Job Corps, the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging, and the St. Louis Public Schools. As chair of the Community Advisory Committee for the Master of Public Health Program at the Brown School, Mikki has been instrumental in the creation and implementation of this degree program. Mikki has served on steering committees for the American Cancer Society, the Missouri Training and Employment Council, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Fontbonne College, and St. Louis Community College.
