Biographical Sketch:
I serve as lead project manager for the Decision Support Lab in the Department of Health Services Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. I have experience in the production of patient decision aids, development of health promotion interventions, and patient-centered outcomes research. My research interests span the areas of minority health and health disparities, informed decision making regarding cancer screening and treatment, health literacy/numeracy, and strategies to communicate risk estimates. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish and have a special interest in developing interventions for Spanish-speakers. I have worked on patient decision aids which have won two Telly Awards and a platinum Hermes Creative Award for best film and video production in the area of health care. I have over 10 years of behavioral science research experience including work in the areas of colorectal cancer screening and treatment, prostate cancer screening and treatment, lung cancer screening, BRCA genetic testing, breast cancer chemoprevention, and clinical trials participation.
