Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Kimminau is Associate Professor of Family Medicine at KUMC and Research Director for the American Academy of Family Physicians National Research Network. She has worked throughout her career with local organizations, advocates and nonprofits trying to meet the health needs of their communities. She has over 10 years of experience supporting clinician recruitment and engagement. Her ongoing research areas of interest are in effective patient/provider engagement, health services research and comparative effectiveness studies that can improve the delivery of health care, especially to vulnerable and rural populations. She has served as the lead investigator on a number of large, multi-year projects including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation state Turning Point initiative and most currently for a P30 Center of Excellence in Practice Based Research Networks. She is the co-director of patient engagement for the PCORI-funded Greater Plains Collaborative and the co-director of the community engagement core program of Frontiers, the Clinical and Translational Science Award at KUMC. At the AAFP, she works with family medicine practices, physicians and staffs across the country on adult ADHD, chronic kidney disease, hepatitis C and colorectal cancer screening in vulnerable populations.
