SYMPOSIUM: PCORI UPDATE FOR SMDM

Tuesday, October 20, 2015: 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Grand Ballroom C (Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch)

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) funds studies that give patients and those who care for them the information needed to choose the healthcare options that may work best for them given their personal situations and preferences. PCORI shares these results in ways that patients, clinicians and others will find useful.  With our focus on CER and our interest in using the evidence to help inform decisions about health care options, PCORI’s research interests frequently align with the research interest of SMDM members.  In this session, PCORI will provide an update on topical areas that PCORI is working on that may be of interest to SMDM members.

Speakers include:

Hal Sox, MD:  Overview of PCORI and “Headline News”

Jean Slutsky, PA, MSPH:  Communication and dissemination efforts at PCORI

William Lawrence, MD:  Communication and Dissemination Research Program funding interests

David Flum, MD; Mark Helfand, MD, MS, MPH; David Meltzer, MD, PhD: Methodology Committee sponsored decision science and behavioral economic expert meeting

The talks will be kept brief to allow for a panel question and answer session of PCORI staff and Methodology Committee members.
