Biographical Sketch: Richard Veerapen is a retired neurosurgeon who practised medicine for 28 years in the UK and Malaysia before relocating to Canada. He holds degrees in law and dispute resolution at the graduate level and is currently completing his Law and Society doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Law, University of Victoria, British Columbia. His areas of interest include conflict prevention and management in healthcare, and the role of family and close others in medical decision-making.
